NEW BRUNSWICK LOOKOUTS
WILD GOOSE
Restigouche County
1937: "80' Steel Tower erected at Wild Goose Lake, Restigouche Co." + "Erection at Wild Goose Lake on the headwaters of the South Branch Kedgwick, Restigouche County, of an 80-foot galvanized steel Lookout Tower supporting an octagonal glass enclosed cabin. A road was cut connecting 35-Mile Camp on the South Branch Portage with the Tower site, one-half mile of new road being required and the grounded circuit telephone line extended from 21-Mile Camp to this Tower. Telephone work was under the direct supervision of an experienced lineman supplied by the Restigouche Company, Limited. Living quarters for the observer were built near the Tower. This Tower will overlook areas in Northwestern Restigouche County and in Quebec as well. This is most important as prevailing winds are from the westward and several new settlements have been established not many miles west of the Interprovincial Boundary. This Tower will be in direct communication with Biencourt and other Towers in the Province of Quebec overlooking this area." (77th Annual Report of the Department of Lands and Mines)
1941: "The Green River Forest Line in Madawaska County was extended in cooperation with Fraser Companies, Ltd. northward from Summit Depot, a distance of eight miles to Wild Goose Lookout Station in Restigouche County thus giving good connection between Quisibis, Green River and Wild Goose Lookout Stations." (105th Annual Report of the Department of Lands and Mines)
1954: "A new observer's living quarters was built at Wild Goose Lookout Station in Ranger District 5-2 by Fraser Companies Limited in cooperation with this Service on a 50-50 basis." (118th Annual Report of the Department of Lands and Mines)
