August 25, 1971: "The lookout, which is usually opened by May 1, and which can be reached by road, was inaccessible this year as there was still snow on the road and slides had destroyed some of it, necessitating rebuilding. Scheduled for 10 a.m., it was after 11 by the time the pilot had landed Brock Kilfoyle, the lookout man. and two new assistant rangers Dick Burbidge and Don Sluggett, at the site so they could prepare it for the summer's occupancy.
It would be the eighteenth summer Kilfoyle had spent at his lonely job watching for forest fires in this area." (Squamish Times)
February 2, 1972: "Brock Kilfolye, who had manned the Stawamus lookout for many years, retired at the end of the fire season last summer and it is not known if this lookout will be opened this year." (Squamish Times)
