June 16, 1955: "F.B.M. Peterson, age 64, died Sunday at Fernie Hospital after his jeep plunged down a 50-foot bank in the vicinity of his farm south of Elko earlier the same day.
He was a longtime B.C. Forest Service employee and for 27 years had manned the lonely isolated Caven lookout station on a mountaintop 20 miles southwest of Jeffray as a key man in the Elko ranger district during the fire season. He had been working recently at the Elko ranger station waiting for trail conditions to allow his return to his lookout post for this season.
He was born at Oslo, Norway, had lived in Canada since 1914, and was one of the longest-time B.C. Forest Service employees in the district. He was not married and has no known relatives." (The Lethbridge Herald)
