1948: "A new 80 ft. galvanized steel lookout tower with observer's living quarters was erected on Maple Hill, north of Halcomb, Little South West Miramichi River with 5 miles of metallic circuit telephone line on poles connecting the tower to the No. 1600 line, Newcastle exchange, at Halcomb. A road was also bulldozed to the site." (112th Annual report of the Department of Lands and Mines)
1958: "The Maple Hill fire lookout tower in Ranger District 2-6 was dismantled and will be erected in 1959 on a new site on the Lavillette Road in Ranger District 2-8." (Annual Report of the Department of Lands and Mines of the Province of New Brunswick)
1958: "In Northumberland county the Maple Hill Fire Lookout Tower dismantled in 1958 was erected this year on a new site on the Lavillette Road about a mile east of Greystone in the northeastern part of the county, to give better protection to the area south of Lord and Foy and St. Isidore towers in Gloucester County."
