BRITISH COLUMBIA LOOKOUTS
VEDAN
Cariboo
December 1959: "During the height of the past Fire Season our remote Vedan lookout, in the far regions of the Chilcotin country, was being supplied food by air-drop. Ranger Geoff Bodman was doing the dropping when his eye-glasses were caught in the 'prop-wash' and disappeared with the cardboard box containing the mail. Nothing more was thought of the incident until some six weeks later when Supervisor Specht was locating a road on the same Lookout mountain. As he approached the lookout building he narrowly avoided stepping on the glasses that Geoff had lost six weeks before. One lens had fallen out beside the glasses but, otherwise, no damage was sustained and Geoff is wearing his old set." (Forest Service Newsletter)
