BRITISH COLUMBIA LOOKOUTS
BEAVER BLUFF
Kitimat - Stikine
August 3, 1966: "Beaver Bluff is on a knoll which is part of Allard Mountain. The lookout building is about 3,000 feet above the valley and George Dupont has a commanding view of the entire Kalum Lake area.
His lookout is equipped with a 2-way radio, a 60 power telescope and three sets of binoculars. When he spots smoke he immediately takes a range reading and relays the information to Terrace Fire Control Centre.
Most of the year's main food supply is airlifted in by helicopter and George picks up fresh meat and produce on his occasional trips to Terrace." (Terrace 'Omineca' Herald)
