August 18, 1923: "A look-out tower will be erected in Restigouche on Blue Mountain on the head of the Benjamin River. This tower will be erected jointly by the Department of Lands and Mines, and the Geodetic Survey, and will probably be completed by fall." (The Gazette)
1948: "The Blue Mountain Telephone Line, from Lorne Settlement to Blue Mountain Tower which formerly ran across country along the portage road, was rebuilt and routed westward through Upper Lorne Settlement to the main truck road along Benjamin River to the Tower. This work was done in co-operation with New Brunswick International Paper Company. The old line was dismantled and the metallic circuit through Lorne Settlement leading to Nash Creek was moved back to the edge of the highway right-of-way because of road widening operations."
