1924: "There still remains work to be done however, and it is expected that a special steel tower, eighty feet high will be erected early this coming spring near Summit on the C.N.R. This tower will be on the height of land line overlooking all other towers in Division 'D' and a telephone line connecting the Inspector's headquarters at Lake Edward, will be run along the C.N.R. right of way. All fire reports reaching Division headquarters can be checked from Summit where the most important tower in the Western Section will be located." 1925: "During the season fourteen new towers were erected in the Western section, one of which is of steel construction, eighty feet in height with cabin on top. This tower is situated near Summit and overlooks out territory in this vicinity in all directions, while the tower man has a direct line of communication with headquarters."
