1954: "An eighty foot galvanized steel lookout tower with octagonal glass enclosed cabin and observer's living quarters, 14' x 20', was built on a high hill southwest of Skiff Lake in order to give better protection to forest lands in southwestern York County. No telephone lines were built to this lookout station since radio will be used." (118th Annual report of the Department of Lands and Mines)
