BRITISH COLUMBIA LOOKOUTS
JAMES MOUNTAIN
.
March 30, 1979: “There's a new lookout perched on top of James Mountain, just southeast of Quesnel, and it's quite unique.
The 1,000 pound cupola (small building on top of the tower), a 35-foot scaffold-type tower, prefab living quarters, and other materials were delivered by helicopter and installed at the site. There is no ground access for vehicles.
Ray Jefferson, the Cariboo region's buildings technician, said the entire operation required one day of helicopter time and four days to assemble and secure. The James Mountain lookout replaces one which used to be on not-to-far-away Dragon Mountain.” (Prince George Citizen)
