NEW BRUNSWICK LOOKOUTS
McMANUS HILL
.
1922: "A new tower is being erected on McMannus hill near Sussex and will command a part of the forest land situated in Kings, Albert and St. John Counties. This is a steel tower and is the first steel lookout tower to be erected in New Brunswick. This tower is being built in cooperation with the Hollingsworth and Whitney Co., who have extensive holdings of forest land in this section of the Province. It has been found that these towers in many localities may even prove cheaper than wooden towers, and will no doubt be used in many locations in the future." (Annual Report of the Crown Land Department of the Province of New Brunswick)
1936: "It was also suggested that McManus Hill Tower might be moved to a higher location and thus serve a greater area." (Annual Report of the Department of Lands and Mines of the Province of New Brunswick)
