May 3, 1929: "A new lookout station for the B. C. Forestry has been located on Bald Mountain in such a position that it commands a view of the Big Lake and the surrounding hills as well as the Little Lake and the logging camps working in that vicinity. Mr. R. Murray, forest ranger for Duncan has been up supervising the trail which is being cut to this lookout. No tower is being erected this summer, but the lookout man, Mr. G. Simpson, will have his headquarters in a communications tent." (The Daily Colonist)
