QUISIBIS MOUNTAIN

1921: "A sixty foot lookout was constructed here late in 1921. This commands a wide range covering the greater portion of Madawaska and Victoria Counties as well as a large portion of Restigouche. It is one of the most ideal locations for a lookout in New Brunswick. Half the cost of construction of this tower was borne by the N.B. Railway Co." "Fifteen miles of pole and tree line were constructed to connect the Quisibis Mt. Lookout to the N.B. Telephone Co. line at Green River." January 19, 1922: "Considerable progress has been made in the construction of the new look-out tower and ranger's cabin on Quisibis Mountain, near Green River, New Brunswick. The cost is being equally borne by the Department of Lands and Mines and the New Brunswick Railway Co., and is one of a number of towers which have been built co-operatively for the protection of Crown and railway lands." 1949: "Repairs were made to the Quisibis Telephone Line chiefly between Green River and Quisibis Lookout Station as it was necessary to place new poles along the line leading to the Lookout Station." (113th Annual report of the Department of Lands and Mines)
1963: "Two fibreglas tower cupolas were erec ted on an experimental basis at Kintore and Quisbis. They were installed by a method which permitted complete assembly of the unit on the ground before being hoisted into place on top of the tower structure."
