November 19, 1959: "Delbert Thompson has come down from Buffalo Head Hills where he was at the forestry tower. The road up to the tower was too slippery for a car, so he had to wait until the forestry's four wheel drive could go for him. It is stationed at High Level." (Peace River Record Gazette)
April 21, 1960: "The forestry men were taken to the lookout towers on Buffalo Head Hills and Watt Mountain by helicopter as roads were impassable. Mrs. Jockey Smith, mother of Leonard Smith, who is towerman on Buffalo Head Hills is going to stay on the mountain with him." (Peace River Record Gazette)
